Neude Bieb

Met HEEL veel trots presenteer ik u mijn eerste werk in de openbare ruimte!
Een jaar werk was het zeker waard, dit kunstwerk is blijvend. Het is te zien in de nieuwe bibliotheek Neude in het centrum van Utrecht. Ik heb met mijn kunstwerk gereageerd op de architectuur van het voormalige Postkantoor met haar bijzondere ritmische boogvormen.

Het geschilderde beeld is ”ontworpen” door beeldschermen zoals mijn zeer oude computer die steeds op willekeurige momenten kapot gaat. In dit disfunctioneren van het overbrengen van informatie, leverde de crashende computer mij een serie van prachtige beelden aan.

Het kunstwerk is vanuit meerdere perspectieven te zien. Je doorloopt een visuele vertolking van een zoektocht naar informatie. Tijdens het gebruiken van de naast gelegen roltrap, scrollt het beeld van onscherp naar scherp. De geschilderde vertroebeling staat symbool voor de ruis aan informatie die we voor onze kiezen krijgen tegenwoordig. Het kunstwerk is in februari opgeleverd maar vanaf nu is het weer mogelijk om publiek te ontvangen bij het kunstwerk.

Library at the Neude

It is with great pride that I can present my first commissioned artwork in public space! It has definitly been worth the years work, because this artwork is here to stay. You can visit it at the new library Neude, in the citycenter of Utrecht. With this artwork I have reacted on the architecture of the former Postoffice with its unusual and rythmic arches.

The painted image has been ‘designed’ by digital screens like my very old computer that keeps crashing at random. During its failure to tranfer information, the computer provided me with a multitude of beautiful images.

This artwork is to be seen from different perspectives. You, the visitor, walks through a visual representation of the search for information. When you use the nearby escalator, you scroll through the image, in and out of focus. The painted blur symbolises the noisy stream of information currently fired at us.

In february 2020 the installation of the artwork was completed and from june 2020 the library and the artwork are accesible for the public.
